Chainz is the official web3 platform for basketball fans in Australia and abroad. It’s the home of endorsed NBL digital collectibles, moments, and experiences across all facets of the game.

Chainz opens up a new and exciting era of fandom for basketball. It will allow the NBL and basketball community to connect and collect, trade, play and engage with the NBL and its partners. Chainz will also enable collectors to interact with their favourite clubs, players, and the game itself and to receive exclusive digital and must-have real-life benefits. These benefits and rewards are airdropped over time into your digital wallet. It will become the essential place for all things NBL and basketball!

The NBL has partnered with ePlays and BlockTrust to develop Chainz. Both ePlays and BlockTrust are Australian companies leading the way for mass adoption of digital collectibles (NFTs) and their use within fan groups and the broader community. Regarding Chainz, a digital collectible is an officially licensed NBL digital asset that celebrates the game's highlights from our greatest athletes. Think of it as a digital version of sports cards you collected as a kid. They are one of a kind, officially licensed, and can be collected. The difference is that Chainz moments are digital, non-fungible (unique and distinguishable) and secured by blockchain technology, verifying ownership and making them easily tradeable. Technically speaking, the digital collectible is an NFT.

To buy a pack, head to the "Packs" section of the Chainz website, and you will find an option to purchase and then open a pack. You can use a credit card or a range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, DAI or USDC.

There will be many series over time, and each will include a variety of packs. These will be at various price points, and you can see the current price on the Packs page.

No, you can transact in Australian Dollars using your traditional Visa or Mastercard. If you choose to use a cryptocurrency, you have that option, also.

New pack drops will happen throughout the year. There will also be other special drops in certain parts of the season, and even during the off-season. The best way to be notified of these drops is by joining the Chainz mailing list or by joining the Chainz Discord server here.

Not exactly. You cannot buy those packs anymore, but you can still purchase the moments and contents of the pack on the open market.

You can show them off to your friends, trade with friends or others connected via the Chainz marketplace and build an entire collection. When you purchase a Moment, you are granted ownership of the digital asset, which will remain traceable on the blockchain forever. It is important to note, however, that your ownership of the Moment doesn't grant you additional rights to any individual inputs that make up the digital collectible, i.e., you cannot alter the Moment or reproduce it.

Chainz will be dropping an ongoing series of digital collectibles, trading cards, fan tokens, and moments related to the season throughout the year. Collect moments and participate in challenges to win exclusive and limited Chainz merch, discounts, and experiences. Like trading cards, digital collectibles will generally be valued based on demand (popularity) and supply (scarcity of the Moment), so ultimately value is determined by market demand.

Yes, absolutely. Once you have purchased your digital collectible (NFT), you own the rights to hold, trade or sell it. The Chainz Marketplace (coming soon) will be a dynamic environment where you can trade and sell your collectibles. You will set your price for reselling your asset as you would with traditional trading cards. The purchase of your Moment and its final sale price will depend on demand for that particular Moment.

Dapper Wallet is our choice of digital Wallet for Chainz. Transactions you take part in on Chainz are handled through this Wallet, whether it involves making a purchase or a sale. The Dapper Wallet will keep your digital assets safe and secure for only you to access.

The Flow Blockchain was developed by Dapper Labs (creators of the Dapper Wallet) to be a more efficient digital ledger with the benefits of being developer and user-friendly. It is so easy that you will barely realise you are using it on Chainz!

Discord is the primary communication platform for people and projects in web3, like NBL Chainz. The NBL Chainz Discord is free to join and will serve as a gathering place for the basketball community. It will be where you will find announcements, updates, player Ask Me Anything (AMAs) and support surrounding NBL Chainz and drops of digital collectibles and fan experiences.

NFT stands for "non-fungible token." NFTs are unique representations of real-world assets (for example, trading cards) made ownable and tradeable using blockchain technology. In the case of Chainz, the NFTs range from NBL moments and player images to fan tokens and digital wearables.

No, they are two completely different things. NFTs can be tradeable online, but they are not a form of currency and are instead a product bought and sold like traditional memorabilia. The only fundamental similarity is that they both use blockchain technology.

The NBL and its Web3 partners, ePlays and BlockTrust, are committed to a partnership that sees NFTs produced sustainably. For example, Chainz uses Flow blockchain to mint NFTs. Flow, developed by Dapper Labs, leverages an environment-friendly design via Proof-of-Stake that consumes thousands of times less energy than Proof-of-Work blockchains like the current Bitcoin network. This translates to more eco-friendliness and considerably fewer carbon emissions.

Flow is one of the leading blockchains for the next generation of apps, NFTs, and games. It's designed to scale in a way that doesn't use sharding techniques or vast amounts of electricity, so transactions are fast and low-cost. Normal credit card fees do apply.

DAO stands for Decentralised Autonomous Organisation. In other words, it is an organisation with rules encoded by a computer with complete transparency, controlled by the members of the DAO rather than the creators. In terms of Chainz, this means that if you have a Master Key, you now hold a voting stake in Chainz as an organisation, and your vote holds weight in all decisions.

KYC stands for "Know Your Customer". KYC means that you need to disclose your identity to participate. In this context, it is for the Dapper Wallet. KYC standards protect financial institutions against fraud, corruption, and money laundering and comply with national regulations..
